2006 Goals

I’ve been immersed in work to the point that I’ve only now sorted out my cycling goals for the year. When it comes to cycling and goal setting, I’m guided by a few simple principles:

  • Cycling is supposed to be fun
  • More miles aren’t necessarily better miles
  • There’s got to be balance between cycling, family, work, and rest
  • My goals need to be reasonably challenging, or what’s the point?

So I’ve been mulling over what I want to accomplish, and now I’ll put it out there in the public domain, so I have less of a chance to back out. Here ’tis:

  • 3,500 miles, up from 2005’s goal of 3,000 (and 3,381 actual miles),
  • three organized centuries, and
  • at least five mountain rides.

Stay tuned. We’ll see how I do.
