Even though I spent the weekend traveling, I took the bike along and managed to find time to ride Saturday morning. This involved driving from Knoxville, TN to Oak Ridge, where there’s a pleasant, low traffic loop I know. Then, I drove back to Knoxville to retrieve the shoes and helmet I forget. And then, back to Oak Ridge.
The ride itself was an easy loop that begins at the West End guard shack, goes west along highways 95 and 58, then north on 327. After cruising through an industrial area you drop into a small valley that follows a river. This takes you to Dyllis Road, then Sugar Grove Valley Road, Poplar Creek Rd, and back to 327. By throwing in a couple of loops through a local industrial park I clocked 22.6 miles.
