The Depot Ride went off as scheduled tonight, despite rain and cold throughout the day that had me thinking about cancelling. Around 3 PM the front blew through, leaving sunshine, temps in the mid-60s, and no wind. Game on.
Thirteen riders showed. As promised, we kept the ride at a reasonable pace with a long, easy warmup before hitting the hills. Every time I’ve ridden this route in the past the pace has been high, and the hills have taken me right to the edge of blowing up – if not over the edge. So I enjoyed rolling up the hills at a brisk pace, but without having to max out my heartrate.
Total miles: 27.9. We’ll be back there next Thursday.
