No climber

Between adding a few wintertime pounds and losing some fitness, I’m finding climbing a challenge. Rollers are no problem but anything that requires a steady effort for more than 60 seconds takes it out of me. That’s why today’s cruise around the south side of Greensboro seemed abnormally challenging. The route we followed isn’t difficult, but the last third has a few longer uphill stretches, and a couple of steep pitches. I huffed. I puffed.

Still, it felt good to get out. Our small group did 32 miles at a friendly pace out in the sunshine. I wasn’t even too upset when I flatted just three miles into the ride.

Tomorrow it’s supposed to hit 60. Back on the bike, I guess. It’s tough living in a place where there doesn’t seem to be a real Winter.
