The 156 Step Club

I’ve never attended the Battle of Plattsburgh Commemoration until this year, and I’m not sure this counted as attending. Saturday, we walked downtown, got coffee at the Kat, then I joined the 156 Step Club by climbing to the top of Macdonough Monument. It’s only open two days a year, so I seized my opportunity. Afterwards, we watched the bed races.

Sunday, we parked downtown then got coffee and wandered around looking for something to happen. The Army band was rehearsing, and there was a classic car meet happening on Catherine Street. It all seemed very subdued.

We looked into attending the battle reenactment, but a Canadian boycott scuttled it. Those tariffs are doing wonders for the North Country economy </sarcasm>, though it was nice to see a few Canadian tourists stroll through downtown.
