Baby Face Nelson chose to hide at Walley’s Hot Springs before traveling north to meet his fate. His journey was a touch more dramatic than Jill’s and mine. We spent a week at Walley’s working during the day, and soaking in the hot springs at night.

Walley’s is near Genoa, Nevada, just over the mountains from Lake Tahoe. We passed through Genoa last August, and thought it would be fun place for a workcation. It was.

Other than a quick weekend trip to Truckee and Donner Summit, we didn’t do much besides work and look at the views. Our favorite part of the day was watching the colors change every minute as the sun rose over the mountains. That view alone made the trip work it.

We found some good food, including a couple of excellent dinners at The Pink House in Genoa, and the delicious Thai curry chicken pizza at Basecamp in State Line. Oh, and we ate way too many pancakes at Heidi’s.
