Interbike’s done. Ho hum, or so’s the consensus (or at least what I took time to check out). Lots of carbon fiber, ultralight everything — particularly wheels, and a high ratio of road bikes to everything else. The Bruce Gordon city bike, complete with handmade Ti baskets and tire pump, looks pretty cool, though no one but the builder will likely ever own one. Co-Motion’s Streaker is a high end road fixie, and you can buy one in any color you want (and your pocketbook can tolerate).

The weather for Saturday’s Smoky

The weather for Saturday’s Smoky Mountain Wheelman Century Ride was pretty nice…if you live in Belgium. There was drizzle and cool temps, the last 30 or so miles being the most – ahem – uncomfortable. However, the ride itself was pretty nice. Great organization, an excellent route (though the hills made me wish I’d logged more miles beforehand), and nice folks. I added 63 miles to my yearly total, and managed a decent average speed despite the hills and riding much of the course alone.

The iBob list tells of

The iBob list tells of an idea that many bike shops should emulate: a vending machine with tubes and other small parts, sitting outside. Self service for times the shop is closed. I hope this idea spreads.

The Boy and I logged

The Boy and I logged a slow but stylin’ 5-ish miles tonight, as we toured the neighborhood before consuming some curry. It looks like that will be the extent of my warm-up for this weekend’s metric century.
