The Depot Ride is now the Roaming Ride. The starting place and route will change weekly.
Tonight we started from Oka T. Hester Park. Eight folks braved some pretty ominous looking weather and showed up. I have to say I was surprised, as the massive storm clouds had me thinking of bagging it. But I didn’t.
Good call, because other than a couple of raindrops falling, the weather was great. The clouds rolled away, the temps stayed in the high 60s and the wind was merely strong, instead of gale-like. The route’s fantastic – rolling roads, good scenery, and not much traffic.
Here’s the route. It’s about 29 miles.
Exit the park onto Vandalia and go left

X Groometown; W-D becomes Grandover Pkwy
L on Vickery Chapel
R on Kivett
L on Riverdale
R on Hwy 62
L on Harlow
R on Muddy Creek
L on Cedar Square
Cedar Square becomes Coltrane Mill
L on Old Randleman
Continue onto Kivett
L on Harris
R on S. Holden
L on Bishop
R on Groometown
X Grandover Parkway/W-D
Continue to Oka T. Hester (on R)
